Recoveries exceed new infections for third day, but 3 new deaths logged, too

MALAYSIA continued to record a higher number of recoveries from Covid-19 than new infections, with 222 discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours versus 118 new cases.

The total discharged patients is now 1,830, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.

The 118 new infections has raised the number of cases to 4,346, and is the second lowest number of new cases since the movement-control order (MCO) was enforced on March 18.

The lowest was 106 cases reported on March 24.

There were three deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 70.

One death was of a 62-year-old man with diabetes, who had contact with another patient infected from the Sri Petaling tabligh cluster. He died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu at 8.21am this morning. He was warded on March 17.

The second death is a 77-year-old man with diabetes, who died at Kuala Lumpur Hospital at 4am this morning. He was warded on March 27.

The third death is a 88-year-old woman with a history of high blood pressure, heart disease and dementia. She died at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre at 2.38am this morning. She was warded on March 20.
